By advising and educating women, Dr. Melendez
strives to empower his patient to become actively
involved in their own healthcare. His patients
appreciate his love and concern for people, and
they constantly recognize him as being a compassionate,
competent caregiver who always listens and answers
questions.
Dr. Melendez was born in Puerto Rico and also
spent some of his childhood in New York. He attended
public school, state college and medical school
in Puerto Rico, which is where he also started
his OB/GYN residency. During his third year of
training, he joined the Air Force.
In 1995, Dr. Melendez left the Air Force and was
recruited by St. Anthony Hospital to join a private
practice group and be involved in their Family
Practice Residency Program. He supervised expansion
of labor and delivery and recruitment of other
OB/GYNs to the hospital.
Dr. Melendez wanted more family time and wanted
to practice with a group of high-quality physicians.
So, in 2002, he relocated to Center for Women's
Health.
Dr. Melendez is truly a family man. He and his
wife, Vivianna, have two beautiful children-Chanel
and Armando. Besides being with his family he
also tries to find time for traveling and sports,
expecially football, basketball and tennis. However,
his most intense passion is for cars and all kinds
of electronic gadgets and pens.
Because Dr. Melendez loves people and family so
much, he is devoted to continually providing personalized
care. His practice style is driven by respect
for the individual, no matter what the situation
may be.
